Viewing our exhibits, running trains on our interactive layouts, and researching in the National Toy Train Library are all great ways to spend your time at the Museum. But you’ll also want to mark your calendar for our special events and programs throughout the year.
Some are regular happenings, like the Open House we used to hold twice per year. We plan to bring back the Open House in an exciting new format. We announce others as we add them to the schedule. Be sure to bookmark this page and check back frequently! Or, get more information by stopping in at the Museum.
Our twice-yearly Open House days (April and October) offered opportunities to mingle with toy train manufacturers and discover the latest trends. Admission to the Museum was free for these all-day events that delighted attendees.
Book signings by highly-regarded writers about trains, collecting, and more—including children’s authors and illustrators—have traditionally been popular NTTM events. These were sometimes held during Open House days but also took place throughout the year.
We go all out on decorating for the year-end holidays and open mark other important holiday traditions throughout our regular season (April-December). Make us a part of your family’s celebrations of July 4th, Christmas, and more!

Support the National Toy Train Museum
The Train Collectors Association, which oversees the National Toy Train Museum and National Toy Train Library, is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to develop an appreciation of and to preserve an important segment of history—Tinplate Toy Trains—through research, education, community outreach, fellowship, establishment of collecting standards, and to promote the growth and enjoyment of collecting and operating toy, model, and scale trains. Our events further that mission.
Additionally, you can support our work in a number of crucial ways.
