Baltimore, MD (December 6, 2019) – The B&O Railroad Museum announces a month-long celebration of B&O’s Magical Holiday Express presented by BGE.

Magical Holiday Express 2019: Tidings in Transit celebrates both the story of the B&O and the spirit of giving by festively highlighting the four major regions along the railroad’s original route and raising donations for four wonderful charities along the way!

Santa and a young visitor

Each weekend of December, the B&O will pay homage to a different locale along the railroad’s original route with a limited-edition postcard, regional treats and activities. With live entertainment, spectacular layouts from the area’s finest model train groups, and the opportunity to support some of the local community’s most loved charities, the B&O is sure to be Baltimore’s happiest hub of the holidays this December!

During Week 1 of Magical Holiday Express 2019: Tidings in Transit, which honors the state of Ohio, the B&O will be raising donations of new and gently-used blankets for Paul’s Place: a catalyst and leader for change in Southwest Baltimore providing programs, services, and support which strengthen individuals and families.

West Virginia takes the spotlight for Week 2, during which the B&O will be accepting children’s and adult’s hats, gloves, and scarves on behalf of the Baltimore Outreach Center, whose mission is to provide comprehensive services and programs to homeless women and their children.

Week 3 comes closer to home with a focus on western Maryland and is dedicated to gathering new children’s books for the Harlem Park Center, a space described as both a safe haven and a beacon of hope for the community.

Finally, Week 4 sees the museum celebrating the B&O Railroad’s point of origination: Baltimore, Maryland, and garnering donations of assorted personal hygiene items for the 10th anniversary of the The Town of Jimmyville, Inc.’s annual “All Aboard the Food Train” Fundraiser.

“We are combining the spirit of giving and receiving for the holidays at the B&O,” said Kris Hoellen, Executive Director.

Please note the B&O Railroad Museum will be open Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm and Sunday, 11am-4pm. The Museum will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & New Year’s Day. Please visit www.borail.org/holiday for complete details.
